About Thomas Andrews
From the Ground Up:
The Story Behind T3
A sober coach and personal trainer in South Bay. A father. A man who rebuilt his life and now helps others do the same.
Hi, I'm Thomas Andrews.
I’m a father, recovery advocate, personal trainer, and beach fitness trainer based in Los Angeles. I help people rebuild their lives — physically, mentally, and structurally — using a system built from lived experience, not theory.
I’m also 15+ years sober and a two-time felon. I don’t share that for effect. I share it because the people I work with need to know one thing: I understand what it takes to start over.
I’ve worked as a Peer Support Specialist within the West Los Angeles VA system, supporting veterans through addiction and major life transitions. But the real foundation of my work isn’t what I’ve studied — it’s what I’ve lived.
From Injury to Insight
For over 30 years I’ve trained people on the beaches of Bali, Singapore and California using the T3 Bag. When my son was born, I took a job — and an accident on that job left me injured, with doctors telling me I needed a hip replacement. I credit every year of training I’d done, and the training I still do today, with helping me avoid surgery and recover. That’s the foundation of how I coach, and the reason T3 Beach Fitness exists: real, functional fitness built to make the body resilient enough to come back from anything.
The T3 Origin Story
How Bali Gave It a Name — and the Beach Gave It a Home.
While living in Bali, I began developing what would become the T3 Method — Train. Track. Transform.
I wanted to build something functional, portable, and honest. Something that reflected the way I actually believe fitness coaching should work — not perfectly designed gym environments, but real conditions, real bodies, real results. The outcome was the T3 Bag: a training tool designed for real life.
Bali, Indonesia was my introduction to the beach being my gym.
Then Singapore and now on to the beaches of Southern California. Sunrise sessions in El Segundo. Sand workouts in Venice Beach. Early mornings in Playa del Rey with the Pacific as a backdrop. There’s something about outdoor beach fitness that strips away the ego and gets people focused on the only thing that matters — the work.
That’s what T3 Beach Fitness is built on. Not a trend. Not a brand. A 15-year practice of showing up on the sand and doing the work.
The T3 Method
T
TRAIN
Build discipline and resilience through the body. Outdoor fitness and functional training are the foundation.
T
TRACK
Become aware of the habits and emotions driving your behavior. A good fitness coach doesn’t just count reps — they help you see patterns.
T
TRANSFORM
Build a new identity from the inside out. This is what separates T3 Beach Fitness from every other outdoor workout program in the South Bay.
What Makes Thomas Andrews a Different Kind of Fitness Coach
Most personal trainers can build you a program. Very few can sit across from you, look you in the eye, and say — I’ve been where you are. I know what the bottom feels like. And I know the way back up.
That’s what I bring to every session — whether it’s one-on-one personal training, a T3 Beach Fitness class on the sand, or a recovery coaching conversation.
Here’s what’s in the room when you work with me:
35+ years of personal training and fitness coaching Movement has been a constant thread throughout my adult life — not as a hobby, but as a discipline and a way of staying grounded when everything else was uncertain.
10+ years as a South Bay beach fitness trainer I’ve been running outdoor fitness sessions on the beaches of Southern California for over 10 years. The sand, the ocean, the early mornings — that environment does something no gym can replicate.
16+ years in recovery Sobriety didn’t come easy. It came through structure, accountability, community, and the hard work of learning to live differently. That experience shapes every conversation I have as a coach.
Certified Peer Support Specialist — VA System I brought my lived experience into a formal credential, working with veterans and people in recovery as a certified peer support specialist. I know how to hold space. And I know when to push.
Fatherhood in his 60s My son changed me. After his birth and the injury that followed, I had to rebuild — not just my body, but my whole approach to being present. That’s what I help others do now as a personal trainer and fitness coach.
U.S Veteran and 2 x Felon I don’t list those together as a contradiction. I list them as evidence. If you’re carrying a past that feels too heavy to move through — I’ve carried weight too. And I’m still here.
My Background
The Long Road Here
Beach Fitness Trainer — South Bay, California
For over 10 years I've trained people on the beaches of Southern California. T3 Beach Fitness is the formalized version of what I've always done — outdoor functional training, small groups, real accountability, sand under your feet.
Personal Trainer & Fitness Coach — 35+ Years
I've been a fitness coach for most of my adult life. Not because it was a career path — because movement saved me. Repeatedly. And I wanted to give that to other people.
Bali — Designing the T3 Bag
While living in Bali, I built a portable training tool that embodied a simple belief: you don't need perfect conditions to do the work. You just need to show up.
Peer Support Specialist — VA System
I worked formally with veterans navigating addiction and major life transitions. The credential mattered. The lived experience mattered more.
16+ Years Sober
This isn't a footnote. It's the foundation. Everything I do as a recovery advocate, personal trainer, beach fitness trainer, and fitness coach runs through this.
Today — Coach. Father. Mentor.
My coaching isn't about perfection. It's about readiness. I've always said: if you stay ready, you ain't gotta get ready. That's what I help people build — through T3 Beach Fitness, personal training, and recovery coaching.
Who Thomas Andrews Works With
I work with people who are done pretending they're fine.
People in recovery who need a physical practice that supports their sobriety — not just a beach boot camp, but a real outdoor fitness community built around accountability and showing up.
People who haven’t moved their body in years and need a personal trainer who won’t make them feel judged for where they’re starting.
People rebuilding after a hard season — physically, mentally, emotionally — who need a fitness coach that understands what rebuilding actually costs.
Veterans navigating the transition back to civilian life who need structure, community, and someone who has walked a hard road themselves.
Fathers who want to be present, strong, and capable for their kids — not just for today, but for the long run.
If any of that sounds like you — T3 Beach Fitness and one-on-one fitness coaching with Thomas Andrews is where you start.
